Team Manager Training Sessions for 2009/2010 Announced!

The WV affiliate of Destination ImagiNation® (DI) will present a creative problem solving Fun Day and Team Managers Training. The first of three workshop days, 9 am to 3 pm, is Saturday, November 7th at Washington High School, 300 Washington Patriots Drive Charles Town, WV 25414. The November 7 workshops are for parents, teachers, and children, preregistered in advance, to learn more about team creative problem solving and the DI program.
The presenters are all members of the WV DI Affiliate Board. CJ Rice and Annie Williams, DI alumni and students at WVU, will lead the Fun Day kids’ hands-on sessions in thinking and acting creatively. They’ll get to know each other and learn to "think outside the box" with building and creating with simple objects, exploring performance skills with short creative skits, and team building activities.
Dr. Anne Fishkin and Becky Williams will lead the Team Manager training session for parents and teachers interested in leading a team of children. The adults will learn about team building and communication skills, ways to encourage and teach creativity and creative problem solving skills, how to organize a team and how to develop a DI membership. They will also see videos of kids solving and presenting previous years’ DI challenges, and have an introduction to this year’s challenges. They will learn tips about enabling team members to work together to solve their central challenge, side trips, and instant challenges.

Interested parents are most welcome to attend this first part of the day’s session. Prospective Team Managers should plan to stay for the entire day’s session to receive full information and credit
A fee of $5 for each adult and child will be charged to cover costs of refreshments and pizza for lunch for anyone who stays for the entire 9 to 3 Team Manager and Fun Day,
Register by Wednesday, November 4th! So we can prepare for you, please give the number of adults and ages of children attending. Please give the number of those attending only the short Introduction to DI session, and also the number of those staying for the full day of TM and Fun Day activities.

Global Finals 2009
Two teams represented West Virginia at the Global Finals competition held at the University of Tennessee on May 20-23. Teams for WVDI were Ridgedale Elementary from Morgantown, WV and Team Epic from Charleston, WV.
